can from all kinds of rich and graceful shapes,
which make people's minds be thronged with varies
thoughts. Root carving is such a kind of art that
can change root into magic. Nurtured by Jingchu
both classical and modern root crafts, Yichang root
crafts inherited a lot and have created some new
scenes. With the deep development of reform and
open policy, root crafts are improved with strong
vigor and become the finest work in Yichang crafts.

Painted
Pottery
Yichang Painted pottery, of which the main material
is local mud, possesses strong local characteristics
with its bright glaze color and conciseness after
artistic processing. There are more than 90 woks
that gained kinds of prizes in the province and
the country. Representative works: The large- scale,
high-temperatured, color glaze pottery mural painting
(designed mural painting was copied onto the pottery
mould by tracing, carving spurting, soaking, piling
and so on and was added high-temperatured color
glaze Thus it was made through once roast) ; "Chuyue",
made in cooperation with Hubei Arts college in 1981,
won the gold prize in National Art Exhibition; The
largest pottery mural painting "Man Nationality
customs" in the county ,which was made in 1986,
was considered a rare artistic treasure after the

elegant and practical craft on one's desk ; ZhaoJun
Tea Sea: one set with 12 pieces, graceful ,rich
in local favor with the story of Wang ZhaoJun in
Han Dynasty married Xiongnu for the unite of nationalities
as it's materials, good display of comprehensive
technique fixed with pottery craft, calligraphy,
seal cutting, embossment and other artistic techniques
and once presented to the leaders of USA and Japan,

Potted landscape
Potted landscape, whose source materials is mainly
trees and stones, reappears the natural beauties
typically in the pot through artistic dealing and
elaborate care. So it's beautifully named "silent
poem, main part of picture ". Yichang potted
landscape has a long history .In the late Qing Dynasty
the self-made and self-apprecially potted landscape
have appeared. After the liberation, especially
form and opening, along with the improvement of
people's living standard and the raising of aesthetic
taste, potted landscape has also developed greatly.
At present Yichang potted landscape has classified
into three types: first, stone ones. This one possesses
the aesthetic taste of the harmony unity of Chinese
traditional panting and nature. Making good use
of rich stone resource in Yichang, using traditional
techniques of Chinese painting, and paying much
attention to natural geography features, the potted
landscape is made with the processing of plants
and mini sculptures .The subject mostly based on
the magnificent scenery of the Yangtze River, Three
Gorges, myths and tales, historic stories and |
